After being one of the five winners of Popstars: The Rivals, Nicola Roberts went on the become one fifth of Britain's biggest girband in recent years, Girls Aloud, racking up 20 consecutive Top 10 hits in the UK before their hiatus in 2009. Known for their big hits such as "Sound of the Underground", "Can't Speak French", "Something Kinda Ooooh" and "The Promise" etc., the girls announced they would be taking a break from the industry as a group. Cheryl Cole was the first to launch herself and take that leap from successful girl group to bona fide pop solo superstar with both of her solo albums reaching #1 and two UK #1 singles under her belt. Inspired by this success, fellow bandmates Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts have done the same, though with lesser success. Nadine's career tanked when debut single and album "Insatiable" peaked at #26 and #47 on the UK Single and Album Charts respectively. Ginger pop princess Nicola has gone in a completely different direction for her solo career, heading for a more electronica direction with debut single "Beat of My Drum", and debuting at #27 on the Singles Chart.
